The life of a small forest community is thrown into turmoil when a strange new disease begins to spread, stirring fear, suspicion, and division. Yet fragments of ancient legend speak of the Old Ones – mysterious, seemingly magical beings who may hold the secret to a cure. They live beyond the known paths, in the direction of the setting sun, where no one living has ever been.
Facing exile at the hands of her own leaders, an old healer gathers her foster daughter and a small band of younglings, leading them on a quest towards the Far Oak. Their journey takes them through wonders and dangers, including encounters with the mighty but destructive race known as the Skarral.
The Far Oak is a story about being different in a small community, friendship and loyalty. It also tells of the Ways of the Wildwood – and the natural balance that holds all things together.
